Experience:
Minimum of 10 years electronic/electrical design and embedded analog or power circuit experience required. Experience with communication protocols, low and medium power designs, High speed signal designs, and memory implementation a plus. Employee is expected to acquire the necessary information and skills to perform the job reasonably well within 90 days in the position.
Education:
Bachelor of Science in Electronics/Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or equivalent combination of education, training and experience required.
Skills:
Skills expected include strong design skills; ability to take project from concept to completion; demonstrated troubleshooting skills; strong verbal and written skills; and the ability to read schematics and manufacturing documentation. Embedded programming skills should include assembly and C languages with the ability to use integrated development tools; good computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel are required. Experience with analog and digital audio/video systems, Ethernet LAN protocol, Altium, and SolidWorks are a plus.

Problem Solving:
Continual problem solving exists in this position. Problems include the design, debug and test of hardware design, and software development. Problems also arise when assisting other Design Engineers with design issues.

Continual decision making exists in this position. Decision making occurs in the direction of design, debug and test of company products.
Financial Accountability:
Employee is responsible for the safe use of departmental tools and equipment. Employee is not involved in authorization of departmental expenditures.
Personal Relations:
Employee has continual contact with other employees and other departments in the design and troubleshooting of company products. This position also has frequent contact with suppliers and vendors when designing and determining the proper parts to be used for company products.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but may train or guide others on various engineering projects.
Work Environment:
No adverse working conditions exist. Frequent computer use is required for this position. This position performs work in a normal office environment, which are normally quiet conditions. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock when testing designs. No other adverse working conditions exist.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to perform office and computer work. The employee can be required to occasionally lift items up to 10 pounds approximately 10% of the time. Employee must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures; ability to write reports and other correspondence; and the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and customers.
Job Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Engineering Manager, the Senior Design Engineer oversees design practices and development of company products. This employee is responsible for researching new design concepts and providing guidance in the design path of products and prototypes. This employee provides direction in designing to meet certification requirements. This employee also mentors and assists other engineers with design or engineering issues.
