Meet the executive team.

RICK HEMPHILL began a career in aviation in 1986 after completing an Electrical Engineering Technology degree from Pittsburg State University. He has held numerous engineering positions with Aviation Suppliers and OEM’s and was responsible for definition and installation of Cabin Electrical devices including certification as an Electrical System and Equipment DER. Rick also held engineering and corporate management positions which lead to founding Mid Continent Controls, Inc. in 1996 after recognizing that the latest technology and product reliability were underserved in the market. His philosophy of “step up and do it right” has served MC2 well and creates a corporate culture that allows every employee, and customer, to have the opportunity to put their personal technological and quality touch in each and every product that goes out the door.
MIKE FREEL is a 27 year veteran in the business aviation industry and an avid aviation enthusiast. Mike received an Electronic Engineering Technology degree from Kansas State University.  He came to Mid Continent Controls in 2000 as a Regional Sales Manager, and since then has held the title of Sales Director and Engineering Director until he was named the General Manager in 2015. Prior to his tenure with MC2 He was the Cabin Electrical Engineering Supervisor responsible for all Citation Aircraft at Cessna Aircraft Company. Having held positions as an OEM and a supplier has given him a keen understanding of both sides of the business and a great desire to meet and exceed the aircraft operators’ expectations for quality, reliability, ease of operation, and support. As a husband of 27 years and a father of two sons and one daughter Mike relishes his family time.
THOMAS HEMPHILL’S goal has been to provide tomorrow’s technology yesterday. He has a passion for all things technology and aviation and has a drive to create something from nothing. His career started out early building electronics after school at Mid Continent Controls. A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Wichita State University allowed a move from the production line to the engineering department where he quickly made himself at home designing the parts he had been building for so many years. Thomas’s passion for aviation carries over into his personal life where he spends his free time as a pilot in training.
